There’s a time to speak and a time to remain silent. When you know exactly what to say to help someone, say it. If you’re at loss for words, remain silent. Very few people on earth have ever gotten themselves into deeper trouble by remaining silent. Here’s a guideline you can live by: if the subject involves sin, speak out, if it doesn’t, and you’re not sure what to say, remain silent. Let the person know you care about them, but don’t try to be biblical if you’re not sure what you want to say is biblical or not. Putting an arm around someone most of the time speaks louder than any words you could possibly udder. What we say has greater impact than we might think. Choose your words wisely. If you’re not sure, chose no words at all. Fewer regrets come from words not spoken, than from ones that were.
23 Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble.
Proverbs 21:23
