I’ve always said, “don’t allow one example (one person) to be the entire representation of God, or Christianity, or of faith”. For to do that isn’t fair to God. As a matter of fact it’s not right to use any person or all of humanity as an example of God. We are all fickle; weak, fragile, and insecure. We are poor representations of our Maker. Whenever, there is a good example, it’s God working in and through that person, so He (God) should get the credit. Whatever the case, we shouldn’t ever allow bad examples of pseudo-Christians to influence our behavior, at least not in a negative way. Only goodness comes from God, so when someone is displaying godly qualities, praise Him Who granted them these qualities, for they represent the character of God Himself.
Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.
3 John 1:11a
