Here in Hosea chapters 11 & 12 we read about God’s love for His people, Israel and Judah. We read about how His heart is torn because of Israel’s rebellious nature and His duty to carry out justice. His heart and character are right there on display for all who read it. Then a little further into chapter 12 we read of what God wants from them. He wants them to come back to Him, to act with love and justice, and always depend on Him. Think about it, God wants us close to Him. He wants us to love others. He wants us to be just (do the right thing). And the only way this is even possible is to get it from God; to depend on Him. So what does God want from us? To love Him first, and to strive to know Him. To share our lives with Him by walking with Him every day. You’ll find your character becoming more like His character, and the results will speak for themselves.
“Oh, how can I give you up, Israel? How can I let you go?How can I destroy you like Admah or demolish you like Zeboiim? My heart is torn within Me,and My compassion overflows.9 No, I will not unleash My fierce anger.I will not completely destroy Israel, for I am God and not a mere mortal.I am the Holy One living among you,and I will not come to destroy.10 For someday the people will follow Me.
Hosea 11:8-10a
6 So now, come back to your God. Act with love and justice, and always depend on Him.
