With technology where it is today, education has slipped in its effectiveness. Many young people think, “I don’t need to learn this, to clutter my brain. If I ever need to know this, I’ll just google it from my phone”. This type of thinking is backwards. What happens if you lose or break your phone? This mindset devalues knowledge. Wisdom, according to scripture, is worth more than gold. You see, having information right at your finger tips is beneficial, but it doesn’t replace wisdom. Wisdom is when experience and relationships intertwine with information. This knowledge and insight becomes beneficial for future endeavors. It’s worth more than the highest valued gems, like rubies and diamonds. If the Bible tells us wisdom is far more valuable than we think, why aren’t more people doing everything they can to obtain it? Don’t ever confuse access to information with wisdom, there’s a huge difference. Without relationships and experience, knowledge is just information waiting at the bus stop for a ride that will never come.
Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding.14 For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold.15 Wisdom is more precious than rubies;nothing you desire can compare with her.16 She offers you long life in her right hand, and riches and honor in her left.17 She will guide you down delightful paths;all her ways are satisfying.18 Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her;happy are those who hold her tightly.
Proverbs 3:13c-18
