When you look at the notion of a one world religion, you can help but think it won’t work. It’s not possible. How can the 5 major religions become one? They contradict each other. The problem lies with people thinking it’s possible. The attempt to make this happen can only be accomplished by taking bits and pieces of each and blending them together. You end up leaving out major pieces of each and thus diluting it. After awhile, it becomes a new form of religious practice, thus destroying the originals. COEXIST is from the devil. Until we realize this, and do something about it by speaking truth, the world will continue to be deceived. Wake up. There’s only one God. Search Him out with your whole heart. If you don’t, you must like stumbling through life blinded by your own willful lack of respect for Truth. Choose Today Whom you will serve... the real Almighty God? Or a blind and lost guide (yourself)? You can’t serve both.
32 These new residents worshiped the Lord, but they also appointed from among themselves all sorts of people as priests to offer sacrifices at their places of worship. 33 And though they worshiped the Lord, they continued to follow their own gods according to the religious customs of the nations from which they came. 34 And this is still going on today. They continue to follow their former practices instead of truly worshiping the Lord and obeying the decrees, regulations, instructions, and commands He gave the descendants of Jacob, whose name He changed to Israel.

When People Reject God’s Warning…..
When I read through 2 Kings chapter 17 about Israel’s exile into Assyria, it almost sounds like modern day America. Substitute fame, fortune, self-pleasures, yoga, “sending sweet vibes your way” instead of prayers, (and the list goes on) for the asherah poles, and Baal. People rejecting God’s warnings, and His decrees, still continue to this day. Look at all the perversion, selfishness, and lack of accountability that runs rampant today. Without God, Who are we responsible to? The passage mentions sacrificing sons and daughters in the fire. Does that not sound identical to the sacrificing of boys and girls through abortion? Turn on the channel guides on TV, you’ll find shows like “Long Island Medium” and “Hollywood Medium”. Does this not the exact same thing mentioned in Israel? “They consulted fortune-tellers and practiced sorcery”. What was the result of all of this anti-God behaviors? God swept them away from His presence. America needs to wake up. If we don’t, there won’t be an America to wake up to. Get right with God, before it’s too late.
5 Then the king of Assyria invaded the entire land, and for three years he besieged the city of Samaria. 6 Finally, in the ninth year of King Hoshea’s reign, Samaria fell, and the people of Israel were exiled to Assyria. They were settled in colonies in Halah, along the banks of the Habor River in Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.7 This disaster came upon the people of Israel because they worshiped other gods. They sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them safely out of Egypt and had rescued them from the power of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. 8 They had followed the practices of the pagan nations the Lord had driven from the land ahead of them, as well as the practices the kings of Israel had introduced. 9 The people of Israel had also secretly done many things that were not pleasing to the Lord their God. They built pagan shrines for themselves in all their towns, from the smallest outpost to the largest walled city. 10 They set up sacred pillars and Asherah poles at the top of every hill and under every green tree. 11 They offered sacrifices on all the hilltops, just like the nations the Lord had driven from the land ahead of them. So the people of Israel had done many evil things, arousing the Lord’s anger. 12 Yes, they worshiped idols, despite the Lord’s specific and repeated warnings.13 Again and again the Lord had sent His prophets and seers to warn both Israel and Judah: “Turn from all your evil ways. Obey My commands and decrees–the entire law that I commanded your ancestors to obey, and that I gave you through My servants the prophets.”14 But the Israelites would not listen. They were as stubborn as their ancestors who had refused to believe in the Lord their God. 15 They rejected His decrees and the covenant He had made with their ancestors, and they despised all His warnings. They worshiped worthless idols, so they became worthless themselves. They followed the example of the nations around them, disobeying the Lord’s command not to imitate them.16 They rejected all the commands of the Lord their God and made two calves from metal. They set up an Asherah pole and worshiped Baal and all the forces of heaven. 17 They even sacrificed their own sons and daughters in the fire. They consulted fortune-tellers and practiced sorcery and sold themselves to evil, arousing the Lord’s anger.18 Because the Lord was very angry with Israel, He swept them away from His presence. Only the tribe of Judah remained in the land. 19 But even the people of Judah refused to obey the commands of the Lord their God, for they followed the evil practices that Israel had introduced. 20 The Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel. He punished them by handing them over to their attackers until He had banished Israel from His presence.21 For when the Lord tore Israel away from the kingdom of David, they chose Jeroboam son of Nebat as their king. But Jeroboam drew Israel away from following the Lord and made them commit a great sin. 22 And the people of Israel persisted in all the evil ways of Jeroboam. They did not turn from these sins 23 until the Lord finally swept them away from His presence, just as all His prophets had warned. So Israel was exiled from their land to Assyria, where they remain to this day. 2 Kings 17:5-23

I Found It In My Business….
I recently saw a funny meme the other day. It said, “I’m returning your nose, I found it in my business”. The key to the Christian faith is simple. It’s personal. What I mean by that is it is solely based on your relationship with God (not someone else’s). Your personal walk. It’s not about being selfish, or self-centeredness, or even what your neighbor is doing, rather it’s about pursuing God personally. It’s about learning to be independently dependent upon God. The only way it works is if you pursue God daily, personally, and never start to compare yourself to others. Peter, having been set straight by Jesus, was feeling a little bit raw (vulnerable). He has been reminded of his blunder (denying Jesus three times), so he makes a reference to the Apostle John. Jesus lets Peter know that he needs to focus only on his own walk, and leave John out of the conversation. This shows us that we are to help others, pray for others, but we are never to compare ourselves with others, because God will do what He wants to do. His decisions and actions are out of our control. Our occupation with others’ business, isn’t where our focus should be. Our focus should be on ourselves, in a sense of self-evaluation in order to improve in the sanctification process. Your faith is exactly that, your faith. It belongs to you and you only. It’s personal. You don’t worry about other people’s faith, just focus on your own. You can’t rely on other people’s faith. It’s personal, so make it your own. God will honor you when you whole-heartedly pursue Him. That way, we will never have to worry about having our noses being returned to us.
20 Peter turned around and saw behind them the disciple Jesus loved–the one who had leaned over to Jesus during supper and asked, “Lord, who will betray You?” 21 Peter asked Jesus, “What about him, Lord?”22 Jesus replied, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow Me.” 23 So the rumor spread among the community of believers that this disciple wouldn’t die. But that isn’t what Jesus said at all. He only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?” John 21:20-23

Words Matter…
Words matter. They will either bless or curse. They form the esteem of all people. They create deep scars when they are abused, and they edify when spoken in the proper light. If you take the time to think back in your life of two instances where words built you up, and when they broke your spirit, you’ll realize the truth in this passage. Are you still living your life based on what someone told you growing up? If so, why? The Bible clearly tells us to guard our hearts, for it is the well-spring of life. It starts with choosing to follow God’s ways. His ways are best. His ways are considerate of others. Words matter. Choose wisely.

Weak, Fragile, And Insecure…..
A core truth about human nature is that our health will eventually fail, and our spirit will grow weary at times. If we are 100% honest with ourselves, we will admit we are all weak, fragile, and insecure. So why am I telling you this? For the believer, God is the strength of one’s heart. He is what keeps you going in tough times. He is the Glue that holds us together when things start to fall apart. He is the Shelter that helps you weather the storm. He is indestructible, so we can depend on Him for strength, for protection, and for solace. I just hope I can always say this as the Psalmist did, especially as I age and continue to live in a “messed up” world.
24 You guide me with Your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.25 Whom have I in heaven but You?I desire You more than anything on earth.26 My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever. 27 Those who desert Him will perish, for You destroy those who abandon You.28 But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things You do. Psalms 73:24-28

God Only Becomes Your Father Through…..
God only becomes your Father through repentance of your sin and putting your faith in Jesus. Until then, you are spiritually blind and an enemy of God (1 John 4:3). No wonder people hate God and cannot see His wonderful works on this earth. Faith gives us eyes to see the unseen spiritual world. Ask God today for deeper spiritual insight, for His nearness to us is recognizable, and for our good.
11 Mary was standing outside the tomb crying, and as she wept, she stooped and looked in. 12 She saw two white-robed angels, one sitting at the head and the other at the foot of the place where the body of Jesus had been lying. 13 “Dear woman, why are you crying?” the angels asked her.“Because they have taken away my Lord,” she replied, “and I don’t know where they have put Him.”14 She turned to leave and saw Someone standing there. It was Jesus, but she didn’t recognize Him. 15 “Dear woman, why are you crying?” Jesus asked her. “Who are you looking for?”She thought He was the gardener. “Sir,” she said, “if You have taken Him away, tell me where You have put Him, and I will go and get Him.”16 “Mary!” Jesus said. She turned to Him and cried out, “Rabboni!” (which is Hebrew for “Teacher”).17 “Don’t cling to Me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find My brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.’ ”18 Mary Magdalene found the disciples and told them, “I have seen the Lord!” Then she gave them His message. Money Is A Test…..
The Bible talks about money quite a bit. It tells us that greed, the love of money, has destroyed many lives in its pursuits. Jesus told His disciples that you can’t serve both God and money. Money only becomes an issue when it’s viewed from an improper perspective. Money is necessary for life, but it’s not the main pursuit or main goal of it. God allows us to have it, some more than others, but in all cases, money is a test. It tests our hearts, revealing where its loyalties are. An honest man realizes money’s true purpose, God’s sovereignty and provision. He realizes Who he’s accountable to. God never meant for His gifts to us to be worshipped. It’s always been about gratitude to the Giver of the gifts, and not the gifts. When our attitude towards money is where God wants it to be, no accounting is necessary. Honest and trustworthy men stem from knowing their place, knowing the proper perspective with money, and serving God whole-heartedly. When a man has integrity, he can be trusted with money. God knows the heart of man, He knows who can be trusted with money and who can’t. Is money an issue with you? Have you ever asked yourself why? Ask God today to reveal the “why”, and help you put money in its proper perspective. You’ll be freed from the pull of its deception and
released from its devastating control.
The money brought to the Temple was not used for making silver bowls, lamp snuffers, basins, trumpets, or other articles of gold or silver for the Temple of the Lord. 14 It was paid to the workmen, who used it for the Temple repairs. 15 No accounting of this money was required from the construction supervisors, because they were honest and trustworthy men 2 Kings 12:13-15

The Reason Jesus Came To Earth….
The reason Jesus came was to testify to the truth. And what is truth? We are all sinners in need of rescue. Jesus is the remedy for our sin problem. He is the Savior of the world, knowing Him intimately is eternal life.
37 Pilate said, “So You are a king?”Jesus responded, “You say I am a king. Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.” John 18:37

Doing It Our Way Never Works..,.
Doing it “our way” never works. Forcing what we think should be done will always violate the will of God. Violence never achieves the furthering of the kingdom. Never.

How often do we allow our expectations to trump reality? Naaman did the same here. His pride overshadowed the mission that he was on so much, it blinded him from being healed sooner. This goes to show us that God’s ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts greater than our thoughts (Isa. 55:8-9). Just one more reason to trust Him. Just because things don’t goes exactly as we think they should, doesn’t mean it won’t turn out for our best. The problem lies with us, in our pride, not with God. Lower your expectations when it comes to God, and you’ll find the outcome will exceed the expectations you have. God’s ways are best, stop trying to figure it out on your own. Naaman learned this very principle, remember it the next time things aren’t going your way.
1 The king of Aram had great admiration for Naaman, the commander of his army, because through him the Lord had given Aram great victories. But though Naaman was a mighty warrior, he suffered from leprosy.2 At this time Aramean raiders had invaded the land of Israel, and among their captives was a young girl who had been given to Naaman’s wife as a maid. 3 One day the girl said to her mistress, “I wish my master would go to see the prophet in Samaria. He would heal him of his leprosy.”4 So Naaman told the king what the young girl from Israel had said. 5 “Go and visit the prophet,” the king of Aram told him. “I will send a letter of introduction for you to take to the king of Israel.” So Naaman started out, carrying as gifts 750 pounds of silver, 150 pounds of gold, and ten sets of clothing. 6 The letter to the king of Israel said: “With this letter I present my servant Naaman. I want you to heal him of his leprosy.”7 When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes in dismay and said, “This man sends me a leper to heal! Am I God, that I can give life and take it away? I can see that he’s just trying to pick a fight with me.”8 But when Elisha, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes in dismay, he sent this message to him: “Why are you so upset? Send Naaman to me, and he will learn that there is a true prophet here in Israel.”9 So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and waited at the door of Elisha’s house. 10 But Elisha sent a messenger out to him with this message: “Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River. Then your skin will be restored, and you will be healed of your leprosy.”11 But Naaman became angry and stalked away. “I thought he would certainly come out to meet me!” he said. “I expected him to wave his hand over the leprosy and call on the name of the Lord his God and heal me! 12 Aren’t the rivers of Damascus, the Abana and the Pharpar, better than any of the rivers of Israel? Why shouldn’t I wash in them and be healed?” So Naaman turned and went away in a rage.13 But his officers tried to reason with him and said, “Sir, if the prophet had told you to do something very difficult, wouldn’t you have done it? So you should certainly obey him when he says simply, ‘Go and wash and be cured!’ ” 14 So Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times, as the man of God had instructed him. And his skin became as healthy as the skin of a young child’s, and he was healed!15 Then Naaman and his entire party went back to find the man of God. They stood before him, and Naaman said, “Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.” 2 Kings 5:1-15

The Most Awesome Prayer In The Bible….
The most awesome prayer in the entire Bible. It needs no explanation. The fact that Jesus, over 2,000 years ago, physically prayed for you and me is just beyond words. Just thinking about it lights my fire. It brings joy and comfort to my soul. It’s something people can’t fully portray in words, but once experienced, they inch further and further away from the pull of this world. Knowing Jesus prayed for me then, only helps me know now He intercedes for me so much more. Those who trust in God have security that the world can’t explain, or takeaway, and it makes us more immune to the temptations Satan brings our way. Believers are no better than anyone else, just better off. Too bad the world can’t see this, it’s the only answer to it’s biggest problem (sin).
20 “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in Me through their message.21 I pray that they will all be one, just as You and I are one–as You are in Me, Father, and I am in You. And may they be in Us so that the world will believe You sent Me.22 “I have given them the glory You gave Me, so they may be one as We are one.23 I am in them and You are in Me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that You sent Me and that You love them as much as You love Me.24 Father, I want these whom You have given Me to be with Me where I am. Then they can see all the glory You gave Me because You loved Me even before the world began!25 “O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know You, but I do; and these disciples know You sent Me. 26 I have revealed You to them, and I will continue to do so. Then Your love for Me will be in them, and I will be in them.” John 17:20-26

What Exactly Is Salvation?
When people ask you, “What exactly is salvation? What exactly does it mean to have Eternal Life?” you can give them the correct answer. It’s short, simple, and precise. Jesus answers this for us in chapter 17 of the book of John. Eternal life is knowing God, and knowing Jesus. Think about this: knowing God, Who is eternal, is knowing eternal life. The more we know God the more we experience eternal life. When we show God our interest in Him, our devotion to Him, and our loyalty to Him and not the world, we grow the ability to see beyond the physical. Our spiritual sight allows us to see deeper into this life, and beyond this life into eternity. Once we begin to see past “the now”, the future holds more relevance; to the point of changing the way we live, the way we react to things. It gives us hope, the ability to endure hardship, the ability to rejoice with authentic joy, and a resolve knowing the best is yet to come. Knowing God is eternal life. You can’t possess it unless He grants it to you, and once He does, you’ll never be the same. You’ll never see things the same, and you’ll never be without hope.
For You have given Him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one You have given Him.3 And this is the way to have eternal life–to know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the One You sent to earth. John 17:2-3

The Joy A Mother Experiences….
Pregnancy, what a mysterious phenomenon. We now know more than we’ve ever known before about it, but there’s still so much we don’t know. Jesus knew about the joy a mother experiences when she holds her baby in her arms for the first time. All the moods swings, midnight cravings, swelling, wonder, fears, and pain involved in the maternity journey, doesn’t compare to the satisfaction and relief that comes when holding that little life in her arms after delivery. It will be the same way when a sinner comes to Christ. Knowing that being a Christian will be filled with persecution, ridicule, suffering for doing what’s right, won’t compare to the satisfaction and joy one will receive when we stand face to face with Jesus in Heaven. Receiving the Holy Spirit is a deposit, a guarantee, that this will happen. If you’ve received the Holy Spirit, then you are guaranteed salvation. Knowing this gives you hope to carry on. Live with the anticipation of “holding Jesus in your arms”, and He will get you through the ups and downs of this life. When you have the Holy Spirit, you have life. Live it abundantly.
I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn over what is going to happen to Me, but the world will rejoice. You will grieve, but your grief will suddenly turn to wonderful joy.21 It will be like a woman suffering the pains of labor. When her child is born, her anguish gives way to joy because she has brought a new baby into the world.22 So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.2 John 16:20-22

Never Make Fun Of A Prophet….
There are stories in the Bible that just seem odd. The point they make isn’t clear. I’ve always questioned why they were put in there? This one is a strange one. The prophet Elisha is being made fun of by a group of boys. They are calling him names. Elisha has enough of it, so he curses them. Right then, two bears run out and mauled 42 of them. What’s the point? I can only come up with one rational answer, never make fun of a prophet. Always treat them with respect. If you don’t, you need to be on guard, on the lookout for bears. 😉
23 Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. “Go away, baldy!” they chanted. “Go away, baldy!” 24 Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of them. 25 From there Elisha went to Mount Carmel and finally returned to Samaria. 2 Kings 2:23-25

Consulting God Beforehand….
Consulting God beforehand is always the best practice. Kings Ahab and Jehoshaphat were planning on going to war with the king of Aram. The king of Judah, Jehoshaphat, told Ahab (my paraphrase), let’s ask the Lord first. Before we make plans, let’s consult God first. How often do you consult God First before making a decision? I must admit, I don’t. How much am I missing out on by being self-centered? How many blessings have I passed up? How much heartache in my life was self-inflicted because of my lack of duty to God? I wonder what could’ve been if I had consulted God First? How about you?
Then he turned to Jehoshaphat and asked, “Will you join me in battle to recover Ramoth-gilead?”Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, “Why, of course! You and I are as one. My troops are your troops, and my horses are your horses.” 5 Then Jehoshaphat added, “But first let’s find out what the Lord 1 Kings 22:4-5

Selling Yourself To Evil…..
Selling yourself to evil. What does that mean? Elijah said it to King Ahab after his wife Jezebel had Naboth murdered in order to get his plot of land for the King. The Bible never tells us what it means. It just tells us that no one else so completely sold Himself to what was evil in the Lord’s sight as Ahab did under the influence of his wife Jezebel (1 Kings 21:25). For it to say this, it must mean that Ahab did what Ahab wanted. He didn’t have any reverence for God. And even though he repented, his fate was already sealed. Do you ever find yourself so caught up in your own selfishness that God seems distant? It’s so easy to allow yourself to get caught up in the here and now that you forget what’s important. The greatest priority is to have God as your priority. It keeps all other priorities in line. The only thing I know about myself is no matter how selfish or self-centered I can become, it isn’t worth the damage it does. May God never allow us to sell ourselves to evil. The price is too high.
20 “So, my enemy, you have found me!” Ahab exclaimed to Elijah.“Yes,” Elijah answered, “I have come because you have sold yourself to what is evil in the Lord’s sight. 1 Kings 21:20 25 (No one else so completely sold himself to what was evil in the Lord’s sight as Ahab did under the influence of his wife Jezebel. 26 His worst outrage was worshiping idols just as the Amorites had done–the people whom the Lord had driven out from the land ahead of the Israelites.) 1 Kings 21:25-26

Fickle Philip….
Missouri is known as the “Show Me” state. I lived there so I can vouch for it’s authenticity. Philip (one of the 12 disciples) didn’t believe Jesus, so he asked Jesus to “show him the Father”, then he would know and believe. Why is it, that we have such short memories? Such short attention spans? Such a lack of confidence in God, after all He has done for us? Philip was there when Jesus calmed the storm, when He brought several people back to life, fed the 5,000, and when He cast out demons into pigs. How is it possible that He didn’t understand? Are we not the same way? Are we just as fickle as Philip? Jesus is God. He proved it time and time again. So what is it that we must do to avoid all of these doubts, fears, and uncertainty? It’s simply, yet difficult. We have to set aside our feelings, and go with what we know to be true. That’s what obedience is truly all about. Not trusting your feelings is exactly what faith is all about. Faith isn’t some mysterious power we find. Faith is trusting God, with what He does best. Faith is setting aside “how you feel”, and living out what you know to be true. God wants us to trust Him. If you’re honest, you know you can trust Him. Proof of this is acknowledging all that He has done for you up to this point. Make sense? We need to move out of the “Show Me” state, and into the motto on our money. Do what the dollar bill tells us to do: “in God we trust”.
1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in Me.2 There is more than enough room in My Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with Me where I am.4 And you know the way to where I am going.”5 “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where You are going, so how can we know the way?”6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me. 7 If you had really known Me, you would know who My Father is. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him!”8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”9 Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father! So why are you asking Me to show Him to you? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I speak are not My own, but My Father who lives in Me does His work through Me.11 Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen Me do.12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in Me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.13 You can ask for anything in My name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.14 Yes, ask Me for anything in My name, and I will do it! Don’t Waste What Is Holy On What Is Unholy…..
The fastest way to determine a fool from a person who is truly concerned is careful observation during conversation. The amount of time it takes to determine if a person is concerned or is just expressing their opinion is lessened, and their folly exposed in their ability to listen, when we apply a little bit of discernment in our observation skills. A concerned person allows you to speak. They ask questions. They express their concern through body language and statements like: “I bet that made you feel....”, or “I’m so sorry...”, or “how can I help...”. A fool won’t listen and won’t ask questions, they will interrupt, making sure you heard them by repeating redundant information, and even changing the subject if it starts to divert the attention away from themselves. Most importantly, a fool, will make you feel like you’re not important, like they have more important things to do. When you walk away from a conversation with a fool, you feel more empty, less significant, and almost cheated out of time. It’s like watching a rerun of a tv show you don’t even like; it leaves you frustrated. The best way to handle this is nod your head, as if you’re listening, then leave the conversation as soon as possible. There’s no possibility of reaching a fool with understanding, so once you recognize this, exit the conversation. You save precious time that could be more productive witnessing to someone willing to listen. I know this seems a little harsh, but remember Jesus’ words, “Don’t waste what is Holy on what is unholy.....Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you” (Matt. 7:6). You can bathe a pig and spray perfume on it, but the pig will always return to its pigsty, ruining the fragrance you spent your time trying to beautify this foolish creature.
2 Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions. Proverbs 18:2

The Seat Designed Only For God…
The Bible is clear on prideful behaviors. God opposes the proud. Anytime we act arrogantly or boastful, it falls under this category. When we boast of anything other than what God has done for us, it’s opposed by God. Any time you see or hear a person boasting or acting out in arrogance it is the same category as if they stepped upon God’s throne. There is no difference in “playing God” between promoting sinful behaviors with boasting about things we really have no control over. Ben-Hadad was boasting about completely destroying Samaria, Israel’s split northern kingdom. Even though their king, Ahab, was despised by God, God punished Ben-Hadad for his arrogant boastfulness. To think a rebellious, evil, disobedient king, was set aside (temporarily), in order for God to punish a pagan king for his arrogance, speaks volumes. When an evil, disobedient king tells us to not be arrogant, we should listen. No one, especially believers, can ever be arrogant and be seen as justified. God tells us in Jeremiah chapter 9, if we are going to boast, then boast about God’s qualities: His goodness, His unfailing love, His Justice, and His righteousness (Jer. 9:23-24). In these things, God takes delight. We were never meant to sit on God’s throne; we aren’t qualified. Boastful and arrogant behavior does just that. Be honest with yourself, remind yourself, your bottom won’t comfortably fit in the seat designed only for God, Himself. So stop trying.
11 The king of Israel sent back this answer: “A warrior putting on his sword for battle should not boast like a warrior who has already won.” 1 Kings 20:11

More Over-Zealous Than Prepared…
Part of the humility and meekness Jesus talked about is knowing we are always more over-zealous than prepared. That’s why the goal of the Christian’s walk is to learn to be independently dependent upon God. For He knows us better than we know ourselves.
36 Simon Peter asked, “Lord, where are You going?”And Jesus replied, “You can’t go with Me now, but you will follow Me later.”37 “But why can’t I come now, Lord?” he asked. “I’m ready to die for You.”38 Jesus answered, “Die for Me? I tell you the truth, Peter–before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know Me. John 13:36-38

God Doesn’t Mess Around….
In 1 Kings chapter 18 we read the story of Elijah and the 450 prophets of Baal. The contest on Mount Carmel is full of interesting and entertaining events. But why would Elijah even present this challenge to King Ahab, for he wanted Elijah dead? The purpose of this challenge is stated in verse 21. The purpose was to make the people choose which G(g)od to serve. They were serving many gods. How would this apply to modern day America? Well, are there many gods being served here in America? Do people go to “Church”, but serve a different god from the One in the Bible? When Jesus spoke about not being able to serve two masters, does that apply here? Elijah knew, and the people witnessing this contest learned that God doesn’t mess around. He will not tolerate people half-heartedly serving Him while giving their devotion to other fictitious gods. Look what happened to the 450 prophets of Baal? Is this your fate as well? Redirect your devotion to the only One worthy of our worship; you’ll save yourself an eternity of pain and suffering when you do. Put God to the test, but remember, you’re motivation must be real, it must come from a true and sincere heart. God knows if your heart is genuine. If it is, prepare yourself to begin a journey that will involve losing yourself in the process.
21 Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent. 1 Kings 18:21
36 At the usual time for offering the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet walked up to the altar and prayed, “O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove today that You are God in Israel and that I am Your servant. Prove that I have done all this at Your command. 37 O Lord, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that You, O Lord, are God and that You have brought them back to Yourself.”38 Immediately the fire of the Lord flashed down from heaven and burned up the young bull, the wood, the stones, and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench! 39 And when all the people saw it, they fell face down on the ground and cried out, “The Lord–He is God! Yes, the Lord is God!” 1 Kings 18:36-39

Secure In God’s Love And Provision….
Every time I read of the miraculous workings God displayed to people in His story, I can’t help but feel secure in His love and provision for me. The widow of Zarephath is another of these reminders of God’s infinite power and care for us. This story, more than any other, reminds me of God’s provision. The widow’s obedience to Elijah’s request was rewarded with daily amounts of food when the drought made it impossible to grow any crops. God’s deliverance of her son from death is just one more example of God honoring those that honor Him (1 Sam 2:30). When we are obedient to God, He will meet our needs. You can count on that.
8 Then the Lord said to Elijah, 9 “Go and live in the village of Zarephath, near the city of Sidon. I have instructed a widow there to feed you.”10 So he went to Zarephath. As he arrived at the gates of the village, he saw a widow gathering sticks, and he asked her, “Would you please bring me a little water in a cup?” 11 As she was going to get it, he called to her, “Bring me a bite of bread, too.”12 But she said, “I swear by the Lord your God that I don’t have a single piece of bread in the house. And I have only a handful of flour left in the jar and a little cooking oil in the bottom of the jug. I was just gathering a few sticks to cook this last meal, and then my son and I will die.”13 But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again!”15 So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her son continued to eat for many days. 16 There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah.17 Some time later the woman’s son became sick. He grew worse and worse, and finally he died. 18 Then she said to Elijah, “O man of God, what have you done to me? Have you come here to point out my sins and kill my son?”19 But Elijah replied, “Give me your son.” And he took the child’s body from her arms, carried him up the stairs to the room where he was staying, and laid the body on his bed. 20 Then Elijah cried out to the Lord, “O Lord my God, why have You brought tragedy to this widow who has opened her home to me, causing her son to die?”21 And he stretched himself out over the child three times and cried out to the Lord, “O Lord my God, please let this child’s life return to him.” 22 The Lord heard Elijah’s prayer, and the life of the child returned, and he revived! 23 Then Elijah brought him down from the upper room and gave him to his mother. “Look!” he said. “Your son is alive!”24 Then the woman told Elijah, “Now I know for sure that you are a man of God, and that the Lord truly speaks through you.” 1 Kings 17:8-24

True Love Serves, No Matter The Cost….
Jesus’ example He set by washing the disciples feet is a powerful reminder for us to never allow ourselves to get too big for our britches. Here we have the Creator of all the universes, the One Who designed everything, stooping down to wash the dusty, dirty, smelly, nasty feet of twelve men. One if which was the one to lead Him to His horrible death. It shows us if He can do it, so should we. It’s an example of humility, not so much as being humbled, rather setting aside your pride, power, knowledge, and talents, in order to serve someone else. It’s giving up your position to help another. Jesus’ example is the ultimate reminder that we all are never above our Godly duty to serve. When we do, it shows God how much He means to us. True love serves, regardless of the cost.
1 Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that His hour had come to leave this world and return to His Father. He had loved His disciples during His ministry on earth, and now He loved them to the very end. 2 It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had given Him authority over everything and that He had come from God and would return to God. 4 So He got up from the table, took off His robe, wrapped a towel around His waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then He began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel He had around Him.6 When Jesus came to Simon Peter, Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You going to wash my feet?”7 Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”8 “No,” Peter protested, “You will never ever wash my feet!”Jesus replied, “Unless I wash you, you won’t belong to Me.”9 Simon Peter exclaimed, “Then wash my hands and head as well, Lord, not just my feet!”10 Jesus replied, “A person who has bathed all over does not need to wash, except for the feet, to be entirely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not all of you.” 11 For Jesus knew who would betray Him. That is what He meant when He said, “Not all of you are clean.”12 After washing their feet, He put on His robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? 13 You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am.14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.15 I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.16 I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the One who sends the message.17 Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them. John 13:1-17

Addressing The Heart Of The Issue…
In the current state of our union (America), we have a movement of people who promote evil. Their agenda is to tear down any restraints that were once established and adhered to. Examples are: legalization of certain banned drugs, silencing people speaking out again certain sexual behaviors, promoting abortion and supporting planned parenthood, and the list goes on. Silencing people who speak truth is wrong. It not only violates are 1st amendment rights, it goes against every word of the Bible. Trying to gain acceptance will never convert evil into good. No matter how hard people try to gain acceptance from man, evil behavior will never get approval from God. Sin is sin, and it will always lead to self-destruction, and sadly that self-destruction will affect others in the process. It’s our job to bring this to light by exposing evil by bringing it into the light; that way people have to choose to continue. Believers need to stand up and fight for truth and justice. We do it by pursuing God daily, and not arguing the semantics of these issues, by addressing the heart of the matter. And that is just that, addressing the heart of the person you are conversing with. We do that by speaking truth and sharing the hope of the Gospel. If your approach to people doesn’t involve the words sin, judgement, repentance, the cross, resurrection, grace, and forgiveness, and Hell, it’s not going to be effective, but even more so, it’s just wasting your time. The power of the Gospel is just that, transforming. If Jesus isn’t part of your witness, you’re not witnessing at all. Addressing the heart of the issue involves the heart and the only remedy there is in making it right with God, is Jesus Himself. Don’t allow yourself to get caught up in the worries, stress, or semantics while conversing with those heavily opinionated, radical, woke agenda pushers. Remember evil is evil. Stick with the heart of the issue, their heart, and present them with the only remedy for their enemy-of-God position, with Jesus.

Sap Your Strength….
Living life without God is pretending. Sooner or later your acting out this fake role will sap your strength. Then you’re left with a broken spirit. Jesus is the only remedy for a broken spirit. He is the best medicine to cure your condition. When you surrender to Him, your life may not be as “rosy” as the world paints it to be, but you’ll have the strength to endure, with a empowered spirit to see it through.
22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. Proverbs 17:22

Ridicule And Humiliation From The World….
Never forget when you are persecuted because of your genuine faith in God, it’s not you, but the hatred by those that have issues with God. Loving what God loves, and being convicted, usually brings ridicule and humiliation from the world.

Knowing Our True Self….
Our behavior, good or bad, influences others regardless of what we think. Knowing your true self (nature), draws you closer to God, because you know you need His help.
5 O God, You know how foolish I am; my sins cannot be hidden from You. 6 Don’t let those who trust in You be ashamed because of me, O Sovereign Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Don’t let me cause them to be humiliated, O God of Israel. Psalms 69:5-6

Trying To Be Religious….
Our nature is designed to worship God. When we try to replace Him with something else, we become religious. Trying to be religious without God leads to idolatry. And we know where that leads. It’s in our nature to worship something if God is not there. We see a clear picture of this and it’s consequences here in 1 Kings chapter 12. One of the greatest lessons we can ever learn while here on earth is to learn from others’ mistakes, that way we don’t have to suffer from our own foolishness. Use it to re-establish your focus. Allow it to drive you closer to God, and away from everything the world wants you focus on. Being Religious is why Jesus died on the cross. He died to save us from ourselves.
25 Jeroboam then built up the city of Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and it became his capital. Later he went and built up the town of Peniel.26 Jeroboam thought to himself, “Unless I am careful, the kingdom will return to the dynasty of David. 27 When these people go to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices at the Temple of the Lord, they will again give their allegiance to King Rehoboam of Judah. They will kill me and make him their king instead.”28 So on the advice of his counselors, the king made two gold calves. He said to the people, “It is too much trouble for you to worship in Jerusalem. Look, Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of Egypt!”29 He placed these calf idols in Bethel and in Dan–at either end of his kingdom. 30 But this became a great sin, for the people worshiped the idols, traveling as far north as Dan to worship the one there.31 Jeroboam also erected buildings at the pagan shrines and ordained priests from the common people–those who were not from the priestly tribe of Levi. 32 And Jeroboam instituted a religious festival in Bethel, held on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, in imitation of the annual Festival of Shelters in Judah. There at Bethel he himself offered sacrifices to the calves he had made, and he appointed priests for the pagan shrines he had made. 33 So on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, a day that he himself had designated, Jeroboam offered sacrifices on the altar at Bethel. He instituted a religious festival for Israel, and he went up to the altar to burn incense. 1 Kings 12:25-33

Wise Advice….
I have always believed that a person’s brain is not fully developed until age 25. I tell people all the time to not go with the way they feel, rather go with what you know to be true. I get truth from God, reading the Bible every day. God reveals to me small glimpses of His character daily. In today’s passage, I couldn’t help think about the advice Rehoboam received from the elders and from his younger friends. The elders’ advice was wise, and the younger friends’ advice was terrible. Of course Rehoboam took the younger friends’ advice and look what happened. There are times when younger people give good, Godly counsel, but if it were up to me, the first step in discerning truth is to compare it to God Himself. If it’s part of His character, then go with it. If it’s not, then seek out other counsel. Nine times out of ten, advice from older, wiser people will contain counsel you’d be better off taking. I’m not saying never listen to youthful counsel. I’m saying view both carefully and closely. You’ll find a much higher percentage of wise advice coming from older, more experienced people.
1 Rehoboam went to Shechem, where all Israel had gathered to make him king. 2 When Jeroboam son of Nebat heard of this, he returned from Egypt, for he had fled to Egypt to escape from King Solomon. 3 The leaders of Israel summoned him, and Jeroboam and the whole assembly of Israel went to speak with Rehoboam. 4 “Your father was a hard master,” they said. “Lighten the harsh labor demands and heavy taxes that your father imposed on us. Then we will be your loyal subjects.”5 Rehoboam replied, “Give me three days to think this over. Then come back for my answer.” So the people went away.6 Then King Rehoboam discussed the matter with the older men who had counseled his father, Solomon. “What is your advice?” he asked. “How should I answer these people?”7 The older counselors replied, “If you are willing to be a servant to these people today and give them a favorable answer, they will always be your loyal subjects.”8 But Rehoboam rejected the advice of the older men and instead asked the opinion of the young men who had grown up with him and were now his advisers. 9 “What is your advice?” he asked them. “How should I answer these people who want me to lighten the burdens imposed by my father?”10 The young men replied, “This is what you should tell those complainers who want a lighter burden: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist! 11 Yes, my father laid heavy burdens on you, but I’m going to make them even heavier! My father beat you with whips, but I will beat you with scorpions!’ ”12 Three days later Jeroboam and all the people returned to hear Rehoboam’s decision, just as the king had ordered. 13 But Rehoboam spoke harshly to the people, for he rejected the advice of the older counselors 14 and followed the counsel of his younger advisers. He told the people, “My father laid heavy burdens on you, but I’m going to make them even heavier! My father beat you with whips, but I will beat you with scorpions!”15 So the king paid no attention to the people. This turn of events was the will of the Lord, for it fulfilled the Lord’s message to Jeroboam son of Nebat through the prophet Ahijah from Shiloh.16 When all Israel realized that the king had refused to listen to them, they responded, “Down with the dynasty of David! We have no interest in the son of Jesse.Back to your homes, O Israel!Look out for your own house, O David!” So the people of Israel returned home. 17 But Rehoboam continued to rule over the Israelites who lived in the towns of Judah.18 King Rehoboam sent Adoniram, who was in charge of the labor force, to restore order, but the people of Israel stoned him to death. When this news reached King Rehoboam, he quickly jumped into his chariot and fled to Jerusalem. 19 And to this day the northern tribes of Israel have refused to be ruled by a descendant of David.20 When the people of Israel learned of Jeroboam’s return from Egypt, they called an assembly and made him king over all Israel. So only the tribe of Judah remained loyal to the family of David. 1 Kings 12:1-20

When We Only Listen To Our Own Voice….
What it all comes down to, every single time when it comes to our own misery, failures, and dilemmas, is this: we do it “our way”. Our sinful nature is to blame when it comes to our disappointment. God tells us what way is best. He shows us that His ways are trustworthy. He even sometimes holds our hand and walks us through it. But it always comes down to us wanting to pull our hand away and run to do it “our way” that causes the problems. It will not be until we get to Heaven that we will see firsthand that God’s ways are the best ways. We will fully see what life should be like and will be like. No conflict, no tumultuous relationships, and no selfish pride fracturing solid bonds among people will take place here. Solomon, even though he was told not only by God, but by his father, leaders, and people the ways to live, ignored the warnings and did what pleased himself. The results are documented in Ecclesiastes (read it yourself). Never allow yourself to get to the point where you only listen to yourself. It will lead to a life of discontent, anxiety, and much worse. Listen to God. Discipline yourself in following His voice. It will save you a lot of misery and show you that God knows you better than you know yourself. Trust me on this one.
1 Now King Solomon loved many foreign women. Besides Pharaoh’s daughter, he married women from Moab, Ammon, Edom, Sidon, and from among the Hittites. 2 The Lord had clearly instructed the people of Israel, ‘You must not marry them, because they will turn your hearts to their gods.’ Yet Solomon insisted on loving them anyway. 3 He had 700 wives of royal birth and 300 concubines. And in fact, they did turn his heart away from the Lord. 1 Kings 11:1-3
